Home Vocabulary

Hello everyone!

Here you are some games to review some of the vocabulary about home that we saw in class these days.

The rules are the same for all of them: just click and drag the word to the suitable picture. Once you have finished, click on 'submit' and check your scores.

Have fun ;)

Tip: If you do not know the meaning of a word, just leave it for the end and try to guess the meaning without looking it up.

FABULOUS FOOD!

Pancakes, grilled chicken, strawbeery smoothies, fruit salads... The world of food is fantastic and today, we are going to work a little bit on this world!

First of all, I want you to do a survey about your favourite food for breakfast. Lets do it...

This part of the blog is divided in 4 sections.....

1. If you want to figure out how to read a nutrition facts label, just click here! You will practice your listening skills and you'll be able to help your mom going shopping! ;)

2. Have you ever tried to make a CHICKEN WRAP? It's just a great recipe you can prepare in a few minutes! And it's delicious... Click here for reading the recipe (You can also listen to it) Be careful, you may need your parents to help you!

3. Now that you know A LOT about nutrition and healthy food... what about playing a game? MISSION NUTRITION will demonstrate that you are an expert on health. It's really funny, so go for it!

4. Finally... What about filming yourself cooking some recipes? You can cook whatever you like, but you must explain the steps to follow. Then, you can upload the video to YOUTUBE!Good luck :)

Choose your own adventure!

Hello Guys!

Today, we're going to do something different. Do you know anything abouta type of literature known as 'choose your own adventure' literature?

That's right. As you can imagine, 'choose your own adventure books' are books in which you decide what happens next! I'm sure most of you read one of these books when you were young, as nowadays you don't find many.

Well then, our friends from Youtube, TheFineBros (cheers to them and their awesome work), have created a game using the famous platform, in which you decide what happens next! Isn't that awesome? It is very easy to understand, fairly intuitive and everybody can access it.

What I want you to do is to go to THIS link here and start playing their little game. Be sure to remember what goes on, as when you finish your awesome adventure you'll have to write a small essay (free count of words, always try doing your best!) that you'll be handing next Monday.

I hope you like this kind of activities, so be sure to let me know. There might be more in the future if you do well! Be sure to also leave a like and a comment for TheFineBros and their amazing work.

Good luck, young adventurers!

Analysing Phonetics

Hello everybody!

This week we are learning a little bit about Phonetics, that crazy world!

Here you have a link to the video we have already seen in class about phonetics, just in case you want to see it again.

Now, you will see how difficult Phonetics can be. In the next video, you will listen to a poem called "The Chaos". Watch the video and select at least 10 words in groups of similar spelling or pronunciation. Look them up if you do not know their meaning (Remember Wordreference is there ---->).

Finally, in this link you can reproduce those words with different English accents.

Are all of them pronounced the same way? There might be some differences.

Playing with words

Let's  play!

Today we will be practising vocabulary. As we have been dealing with the topic 'Sports' these last two weeks, we will be playing a little bit with it and, also, with you own general vocabulary. You will find two links to two different games.

The first game is "Beat the Keeper". On it, you have to beat the goalkeeper as many times as you can in 90 seconds! Let's see who is the best football player in the classroom. Please, note down your scores, and do not cheat!

The second game will test your general vocabulary. Here, forget about Sports. You can write any word in English, but correctly spelt! Spiderman needs your help to climb a building. If you are too slow, he will fall. Do not let Doc Ock win. Again, note down your scores.

Do not spend too much time in each game, around 10 or 15 minutes maximum, because after each game we have to award the winners!

Finally, we will play one last time altogether with Spiderman!

Good luck!
